I am reformatting and reinstalling Windows XP. When I put the
Dell Drivers and Utilities cd into the cd drive, nothing happens.
If I click on the cd to see what’s on it, I see a file called autorcd.exe. Isn’t that program supposed to be starting up immediately? I’ve right clicked on the cd drive and selected the autoplay tab, but I don’t see an option to make this kind of cd autostart.
If I can’t get autorun to work, If I click autorcd.exe, will that do the same thing as autorun?
My computer at work makes multiple copies of a word document. When I return to documents in Word it says “this item has not been saved”, even though I saved it before exiting the program. Then, it continues to create a second copy of the original document. This computer (it’s a Dell) is about five years old. I’m just sick of it. I have seven or eight copies of the same thing. Any ideas?
I see that the “retail release date” is January 28. Is that for buying the software in a retail package at Best Buy as well as buying computers loaded with it? I don’t want to mess around with upgrading. What will be the first day a computer (specifically, a Dell) can arrive at my home loaded with Vista?
Here’s the story. I want to use a Dell Windows XP installation CD that requires a Certificate of Authenticity on my Mac. I have a Dell laptop and I was wondering if I can just take the CD and install it on my Mac. I would be running Bootcamp. Would Windows recognize that the COA is already in use on another computer or would this work?
I have a dell optiplex gx150 with windows 98. I just bought this computer off someone for cheap cuz they couldnt get it running. They deleted alot of programs and I had to download a lot of programs already. The people deleted the whole sound card device. I really need one to run sound programs correctly.
I want a list of things to uninstall from my Dell to make it run faster. I know a lot of the things that Dell installed on my computer when I got it aren’t important, but I need a way to sort through what is and isn’t important. Please direct me to a list of the unimportant things I can feel free to delete.
I bought a computer from Dell a couple of years ago. I want to do a clean up and format it (nothing urgent, I just think it would speed up the machine). But Dell never sent me a Win CD and mentioned something about using only system restore. I honestly don’t remember.
Is there a way to format my machine to its original state without the disk? Is it as reliable? Thanks.
On a Dell laptop w/ Windows XP, there is a recurring error message that says “Server is Busy. Program Manager not responding. Retry?” It doesn’t seem to block applications, but the error windows are a pain to close. This started happening at about the same time popups started to appear. Have any of you encountered such an error and have an idea how to resolve it?
