I have a Dell laptop ( that has a camera )and I found a website last year that let you take pictures like photo booth. Does anyone know any websites that allow you to take wierd pictures? Please help!

I have the Dell Wireless WLAN Card with 54 Mbps speed and Windows Vista. In hotels I sometimes cannot pick up a strong enough signal to surf freely. I have no place made to attach an external antenna. Do I have any other choices without spending a fortune?
Serious answers only please.
i got a dell laptop in the summer of 2007… it’s in pretty good condition. it still works really well and the speed is fast. the front of it has some scratches, but otherwise it looks perfectly fine.
i didnt use that much of the memory.
how much do you think i could get for it?
I already have a home-built PC with the P4 chip in it at 2.8gHz All I need to do is swap the motherboards. I have everythijng else.
I own a legal “OEM copy” of a DELL disk that only works on a DELL motherboard, which should have an embedded CD-Key in the bios.
So, if I buy a Dell motherboard for about $25.00, I can have the latest version of Windows XP SPK2 and all of the available update from microsoft.
This disk has worked on my buddies Dell laptop, and a friend’s DELL desktop. Both which have crashed or were corrupted by viruses.
I am looking into purchasing a DELL notebook. Which is the best model to buy? I’m looking for a light, thin, easy to use notebook. I don’t care about gaming at all, what’s most important is sound and other cool features that notebooks have these days. I am interested in the XPS 1330. However, I don’t know much about the Inspiron or Studio models. What is your opinion? I am open to suggestions. I would really appreciate an answer from someone who truly knows a lot about these notebooks and could thoroughly answer. Thanks in advance!
I have a Dell C600 latitude laptop. I have added more ram prevously, but the Battery is completly dead. I want to replace it, and in BIOS it says that there are 2 battery slots. Are there? How do I add a new battery/replace my old one? I can get a new battery off ebay, I just need to know who to get at the old one and remove it!
Thanks
Okay, today the motherboard “went” in my Dell Inspirion laptop, I took it to the repair shop and the repairman popped out the hard drive and hooked this cable up to it. One end of the cable had a USB port on it, but the other end had the hard drive metal longish connection to connect onto the hard drive. Where do I find one of these same cables to transfer all that data to another computer or external hard drive? What is it called? Thank you.
Hey guys,
As you may know, dell is having a 35% off one day sale on Inspiron 1525. I was already looking at the Thinkpad SL series. They cost about the same. I’m not computer savy so could you guys tell me which one have the better specs? Which one is the better deal? Can the Inspirion install a built in webcam?
This laptop will be used primarily for business but I want to be able to enjoy movies too.
I want to get a Dell Inspiron1520, you know, the colored ones? I don’t want to buy it, then regret it a couple years later. So what are some of the bad things about it? What are some of the very good? What are some of the features? What are some of the extra things, that you have to pay more for. And of course, what is the difference between the 1520 and the 1520. Also, what color do you suggest, and why? Thankss!
I was talking to a dell representive on the phone. because i recived the blue screen of death. but it turns out my computer is too old to get any help and i couldn’t understand her (with her indaina acenent) but she said something that i could reinstall the os without any cds. but then she said it would cost $59.95

Help??
Dell wants $299 for a motherboard for the computer, but I’ve just bought another laptop. I do need to get my files off the Inspiron 1150, but the battery is dead and the internal charging system won’t charge it. I really don’t want to pay just to get my file off the computer when all I need is about 15 minutes to get my files downloaded. Thanks for your help.

I love Dells warranty plan inwhich they come to you and fix your computer as opposed to you being without it for days and needing to ship it off, or drop it off somewhere. Does any other company do that?
Also, when I got my Dell, they were the company to buy from. I have been satisfied other than my lap top casing breaking all the time. However, it wasn’t that big a deal since someone would come fix it for free right away. Is Dell still a great computer company? What is the trend of today, (besides Mac which I would love, but can’t afford.)
it seems like they have alot less contrast or something.. not sure but are all dells like that?
do sony vaios look better?
Im trying to decide which comptuer i should get for just school, a vaio or a dell. they both have pink and the ONLY reason I wouldnt go with the dell is because of the way the screen coloring is… so, do things look more normal on vaios or what?
Ok, so I have this notebook running Vista and I want to buy another hard drive so I can run XP on it for 2 reasons:
1) Games that I want to play run a lot faster on XP and some don’t work at all on Vista
2) I bought and installed Vista on my own and so I can’t get support for my computer through the dell service plan unless I’m running software bought through dell. Basically, if I have any problems I can avoid any non-coverage b/c of third-party software issues. I still have the XP restore disk I got when I bought the computer. Only problem with this (assuming I can do this) is getting rid of all of dell’s crappy bloatware.
So, any problems with doing this, just want to know before I spend $100 for the drive.
I have a new Dell Latitude laptop and I’m learning all it’s bells and whistles. I want to play video on my laptop to my TV for movies and streaming videos. I have the cables for the audio and it’s working fine, but I can’t the video to out-put through my S-video cable.
I know most laptops have the Function-F5 option for video out, but mine doesn’t have that.
Please give me some ideas and options, I greatly appreciate it!
I have a dell laptop and can only see DVDs from other regions for a few times before my computer prevents me from seeing any more. I know this is an attempt to ensure that pirated DVDs are not used as much, but I am going to Europe for about seven months and would like to be able to watch European DVDs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a dell inspiron 1505 laptop. I’ve been trying to hook it up to the tv but its like running around circles. I have a VGA outlet but no S video. Is there such a thing as a VGA cable to RCA? I read somewhere there wasn’t. But I’ve seen them for hdtv’s but I don’t have an hdtv. What kind of cable do I need?
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that has a broken dc jack and I can’t charge the battery therefor the laptop won’t turn on so I can clear the contents. I want to sell it on ebay for parts or something but not with all my info. Is there a way to clear the hard drive? Can I take it somewhere or anything for relatively cheap?
I currently own a Dell inspiron b130. I run ubuntu 7.04. I constantly try to properly install and configure the drivers for the wireless card. It’s a bcm43xx chipset. I have tried several different methods including ndiswrapper. Please help me with step by step instructions….Please i’d be forever grateful.
My Dell Inspiron notebook has a broken screen. Well, I don’t see anything crack or scratch, but the pixels are dead… according to a tech savvy friend of mine. I connected it to a projector and it was working fine, so I know there’s nothing wrong with the rest of the computer.
I can’t afford a replacement. This one is not old enough for me to do that just yet. How do I save money on one? Is e-bay a good source? What’s an inverter? How difficult is it to replace on one’s own, limited tech knowledge considered?
A new screen from an online store costs ~$300
The system requirements for the game say I need a “Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better” graphics processor to be able to play the game. I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop with a Nvidia NVS Quadro 135M graphics card. Would I be able to play the new Red Alert 3 game with it?
I tried to compare the performance benchmarks between the two but didn’t have much luck figuring it out.
I am using Windows XP. I rebooted my Dell laptop back to factory settings after trying first to get rid of the virus and then trying to go back to a restore point and both things did not work. I thought I backed up all my files, documents, music, files, and etc. Once I rebooted my laptop back to factory settings and tried to to upload my backed up information I could not find some files and documents. Can anyone help me?
My Inspiron 6000 laptop harddrive is damaged. I’ve already given up the data for lost, and am going to purchase a compatible replacement HDD and re-install XP MCE 05. However, I’ve read that Dell partitions its harddrives into 3 sections, including one that holds Dell-specific information. I’ve not found good help on the Dell site for this situation. Is partitioning important for Dell? Necessary? Suggestions? Help!
I have about 500 songs sitting in iTunes on my Dell Laptop, and I got a new Macbook and I wanted all of those same songs to be on my Macbook – WITHOUT re-downloading or re-buying them all! Is there a quick or possible way to do this? Thanks!
I have an iPod Touch and an iPod Video, but how would I transfer music with an iPod?
I’m using my stepmom’s Dell and I can’t figure out how to make the screen brighter. It’s not a brand new Dell – it’s a couple of years old – and I’ve tried hitting the arrows that have the little brightness symbol on it, but nothing is happening. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the laptop – I just haven’t figured it all out yet.
Help would be so appreciated.
I just installed a new keyboard on my older dell laptop and it worked for a little while I thought but the keys that have the letters and the numbers on are only typing the numbers unless I hold the FN key down while typing which is a pain or have a desktop keyboard plugged into the back of the laptop then I can type without a problem. Any ideas as to why or what is causing this problem and can it be an easy fix?
Thanks so much!!!!!
I have an Inspiron E1505 laptop, purchased in September 2006. Just today, the battery light began blinking orange 4 times, then once green. I have not purchased any other batteries. I don’t use the battery at all. I use the AC adaptor most of the time. It continues to blink when I power down the computer, but when I unplug the adaptor, it stops. It has given me warnings about the decreasing capacity of the battery. Will I eventually have to change the battery? Is it common for Dell batteries to last only a year? How much are replacement batteries usually? Please help!
This a Dell Latitude 610.
My brother says that the battery will die if I keep it connected to electricity, but I’m skeptical, for me it doesn’t make sense. He then says: “oh, look at the Dell website and see!”. I got a feeling he just wants me to trust what he says, even if he’s not sure. Any Dell experts around?
Want to buy a new Dell XPS from the online Dell store. Does anyone know of the post-chrismas discount trends of dells? I am not sure whether dell has any boxing day specials and therefore, cant decide whether it would be cheaper to buy on boxing day or wait till mid-january?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi I was wondering if there’s a video camera that you can plug into your computer and then take videos with. I know there are tons of laptops and computers with a camera built in like Macs but is there a way to install one into a simple Dell laptop? If you can, could you please tell me the name and brand of the camcorder and the price. Thanks!
Hey guys and dolls! Well, its time that I reformat the laptop. Firstly, I need to know the best way/quickest way to backup my harddrive. 2nd, I need to learn/know HOW to reformat the laptop. The only disc that came with the laptop was a Reinstallation DVD (of winxp) for Dell computers.
HELP!!!!! :-)
Thanks so much!!
I DON’T HAVE ANY VIRUSES. I just want my machine to run top-notch like it did when it was brand new.
******WOULD IT BE EASIER JUST TO BUY ANOTHER HARDRIVE AND JUST SWITCH THE OLD WITH THE NEW??*****
This computer frustrates me. I use it for simple programs like iTunes, Firefox, Word, and Excel and it is so slow. I’m thinking I’m either going to speed it up for little money with the tips that people share on this forum or shell out $500 and buy a new desktop.
Specs:
Running Windows XP v 2002 sp2
The 60gb hard drive has 12gb left of free space.
Dell Inspiron 8600
Intel Pentium Processor 1500MHz
599 MHz, 256 MB of Ram
I defragment the hard drive about twice a year.
Norton Anti-Virus is always on and updated.
The computer is four to five years old.
Using msconfig, I’ve turned off most of over a hundred startup processes to speed up startup (which is still very slow). I’ve wondered wether or not one or more of these that I’ve turned off actually in some way would contribute to a faster system. I was careful to do my research and ensure that they weren’t necessary.
Also, being somewhat tech savvy, can I easily replace the memory and possibly a fan (it’s overheated before)?
Would I be able to add memory myself?
And I have no issues with a little bit of learning and a little bit of work, but it seems that laptops are a different beast.
I am getting the message Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge, please contact a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation. I have been using the same ac adapter since I have had my computer. All of a sudden it stopped working. Any suggestions?
My Macbook was destroyed in an auto accident the other day, and my insurance company (whose covering the replacement) allowed me to pullout my undamaged harddrive. Here’s my question: my replacement’s HD can be switched out with this one… then I’d like to take the new HD, reformat it for Windows XP and drop it into my mom’s Dell laptop to add more GBs to her computer (I have all the Dell disks which include XP). Is this possible?
i have more than one type of laptop but all the lap tops use the same type of docking station. Its the dell d dock. The computers are set to lock after 15 mins but some wont lock on the docking station. Is there something in the docking station that could be stoping the computers from going into idle state?
Ok, so I am thinking of getting either an Inspiron e1405 or its slightly larger cousin, the Inspiron e1505. I know the e1405 is about a pound lighter (5.3 versus about 6 pounds), so that makes it a bit more mobile. The important things I am looking for in a notebook? Decent size widescreen (at least 14 inch), light enough for at least occasional travel (I have one of those Dell backpacks), good wireless connectivity, decent audio. In addition to surfing wirelessly, I might use it for light Photoshop work (most work would be done on my desktop computer). Any help on this dilemma would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!
I have a dell 1501 inspiron and i want to buy a new 9 cell battery. Is it just as good to buy a generic from ebay or should i spend the extra money and buy a actual dell one? Im looking for someone who has actual expirence with this because i dont want to have to buy another one in a year cuz the cheap one i bought failed. Thanks
I’m not focusing on the internet part really…
(INSPIRION 1521)
-So i hear (from a Dell flyer i got in the mail) that shipping is free…
-I hear the waiting period might be a stretch (i want it for christmas 2007 and i don’t really want to wait….)
Im really just looking for the pros and cons of buying a Dell INSPIRION 1521 notebook, so please a computer educated person who knows about notebooks these days, could i get some advise? Thanks.
I want to get a new laptop but I won’t qualify for the financing. My credit card has a very low limit, can I just order online with my credit card and pay monthly? Does Dell or similar companies do this? Or perhaps call them and setup a monthly plan?
I read other questions but wasn’t sure on the credit card question. If I have a credit card, is it possible to do a monthly payment plan? And if so, where? I’m not looking for Blue-hippo or Rent-a-Center stuff.
I want to transfer some pictures from my phone to my Dell Precision M4300 laptop, but I am not sure where I would insert the memory card/adaptor it’s in. (Unfortunately, I can’t email the picture to myself since service is so bad where I live and the phone can’t actually transfer pictures right now.) Help!
My wife’s laptop (a Dell laptop) acquired a virus, so I need to reinstall her operating system. However, she lost her resource disk (with Windows XP). I have a Dell desktop and still have my resource disk (also Windows XP). Can I reinstall Windows onto her system using my resource CD?
I will be traveling to India and bangladesh in January. I want to take my Dell Inspiron B 230 laptop with me and use it. But, I head that it requires some kind of additional power adapter or converter thing. If anyone faced this issue or if someone is aware of it please let me know. I will really Appretiate it.
Thanks.
Hiba.
Having dropped my Dell XPS laptop, there is a minor crack (about 2mm in length) on the edge of the backside of the screen. It has not affected the working of the laptop in anyway but Im concerned that moisture might creep into the LCD screen in the future and damage the components. Is there a way to seal the crack without compromising the looks too much
“Just wimpy” has not tried this yet.
Are there any safety considerations?
My ? refers to a Dell Inspiron 1000.
Will the computer still turn on normally?
Can the computer still be shut down or put in standby or hibernate mode for an extended period of time?
If house power fails will I lose everything?
I have a Dell D505 laptop computer…recently this yellow vertical line has appeared half way down the screen. It’s a hardware issue…when I move the screen open or closed it temporarily goes away. Has anyone else overcome this problem by tightening some screw somewhere or fixing a loose connection? Thanks!
School work, school projects, some internet browsing for entertainment and some music and i repeat NO GAMING!! what is important is not the screen size but the memory, battery life, comfort while typing, and core or whatever those things are. Yes I am ware of the macbook pro and its too expensive. I think a dell would suit me. I have gotten so far as the insperon but the little details are confusing.
My CD/DVD burner took a total crap on me today. It is under warranty thru Dell (I have a Inspiron E1505 if thats an issue).
Where do I even begin to get info to send it back to get it repaired? If someone can give me a link in the Dell web site to start the pain in the bum process to do so, I’d be appreciative. I don’t even know where to begin looking!!??
I recently received a second-hand laptop that doesn’t have a modem. I’ve never bought a modem apart from a computer, so please help me out here.
It’s a Dell Latitude CPX running on XP.
It says it had installed a XJ-CC5560 56K Data Fax Full-Duplex Voice modem.
I’m on dial-up now but hope to switch to DSL soon.
How do I find a modem for it? Please help. Thank you.
There is currently no modem.
I am planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 1520 notebook shortly, but have a few questions that I hope someone here can answer:
1) How do I determine whether to get this laptop brand new or refurbished?
2) Which battery is a better choice, the 6 cell or 9 cell?
3) Typically, what price range should I aim for (I am moderately budget minded).? Also, if there any features y’all reccommend in particular, please let me know, thanks.
I am not really in a business but sorta am on ebay and amazon. I am kinda worried. What will they do with my social security number? The reason i gave it to them was because of a deal I found on a laptop for small business and I guess if I didnt give it to them they would cancel my order.. I have placed a lot of orders with dell before though… Thanks in advance for your help!
I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1721 off of someone. I want to restore to factory image. No backup disk or backup disk creator. The recovery is on another hard drive. When I try to boot up from that drive, it won’t. I can disable the main drive and it still won’t boot from the second drive. Can anyone help?
Assuming that everything is functioning normally. My new Dell Inspiron 1525 (a replacement for one that had a faulty motherboard) beeps twice upon start-up, or when awaking from hibernate or sleep. I have had no problems with the system to date, but I’m just wondering if this is normal. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers :)
Lately, my computer freezes up a lot. The cursor stops moving and the screen becomes covered in vertical lines or little white blocks. When this happens, it makes a loud, repetitive ticking sound.
It just happens at random: sometimes during startup, sometimes right after I log on and sometimes while I’m using the internet or watching a video or something.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 and my OS is Windows Vista if that helps.
I just got a Dell Latitude D830 and it seems to have a fingerprint reader in between the two buttons for the mouse pad thing. I am not sure how to activate and setup the fingerprint hardware and software. Does anyone has any idea as to how:
1. Turn the hardware on?
2. What is the software that comes with this hardware?
3. How do I setup the whole thing to start working?
4. If I set this up, do I still have a way of accessing the computer with a password?
Thanks a lot you smart people!

The sound’s not working on my dell laptop and the socket you put the headphones/speakers in has gotten loose and has retreated inside the laptop.
Can anyone tell me how much it will cost to have it fixed? Thanks
Thanks for your answers. The sockets actually gone into the laptop though and I can’t get it out. I can’t seem to take the laptop apart in that area
I have a notenbook computer that is still under warranty and I cannot get DELL to send me the correct replacement hard drive.
Can anyone help me as to how to get someone there who can really assist? I have spent countless hours on chat and phone with no success. What do I do? This should be SIMPLE.
Inspiron 8600C Hard drive!
I am completely confused, I purchased a Dell laptop from their website. They said they confirmed it, and when I look at the “status” it says that my laptop is ready to be delivered. Now the thing is, no money has been taken from my credit card yet.
Do they take the payment right at the end of the manufacture or at the beginning? It seems strange that they would manufacture the laptop to my specifications without taking the payment from my credit card.
Do they take the payment in whole, or will they take the payment monthly, I cant remember asking to pay it monthly.
My new Dell has developed a strange problem. I hear the disk drive or something click, and the screen acts like the mouse is being held down. When I wheel down the page, the page goes back to the top. When looking at a picture, the screen zooms in on it’s own, as if a ghost is hitting the zoom key. Ever heard of it?
I want a cheap dell laptop under 800.00. And i don’t buy laptop online. These stuff listed below are the stuff i want thats included in the laptop:
-cd/dvd burner
-has a webcam
-fast and a wireless internet connection
-has 160gb hard drive
and other stuff needed for researching stuff online for homework or project.
I’ve got a Dell XPS model m1210 and I accidentally wrecked half the screen. How much would you say that would cost if I were to take it in and attempt to get it fixed? If need be I can provide pictures of the damage. The computer works perfectly fine it’s just the screen.
Please I need your help, it isn’t my computer it’s my dads. And he’ll kill me if it’s like 800 dollars.
Please, I beg of you help me.
If I got a Dell Inspiron 1521 and had problems with it, could I have my dad take it to work and have his computer friends look at it? He works at Tyson with computers and they use Dell laptops AND desktops, so they have their own customer service. Would this work??? I mean problems like with installing computer games, memory, hard drive, the screen, etc. People say Dell has a sucky computer service in India or something, so I would rather use my dad’s work if I could. Could I use it and would this be a good deal??? Also, why is the Dell Inspiron 1520 more (in price) then the Dell Inspiron 1521? The 1521 has more hard drive, I think. So why is the 1520 more???

I start my computer and press F8 right away. I go to the advance boot options menu, and choose ‘repair my computer.’ Now i am expecting it to go through the whole rebooting process (I have done this before with a Dell technician when I had a warranty), and instead it just starts windows as if i had done nothing. What is going on here?
Hey, I have 2 other computers running XP, on my network. They have been working perfectly for a long time. Recently I got a dell laptop (running xp). This has a Dell Wireless WLAN Card. When I go to the start menu and click “connect to”, then, “show all networks” their isn’t even an option to connect to a wireless network.
1. Bought Dell Studio notebook from Staples
2. The keyboard and track pad break
3. Get new computer from Staples
4. New computer breaks, in the exact same way the first one did
I feel like I deserve yet another computer, free of charge, and I do NOT want a Dell. Dell and Staples have been notified. Now what?
How do I make sure I get the customer service I deserve?
What can I reasonably expect in terms of compensation?
I bought a used dell latitude laptop, but it didn’t come with any user guides. I noticed a function key and so far it only works with the suspend key. It won’t work for volume or display brightness. It worked when I used it the first few times. I must have hit a button that made it stop working. Can any one tell me what I might have done to my keyboard?
Also, the track stick in the middle of the keyboard, I’m suppose to be able to just tap it and it recognize that as a click, it worked the first few times, now the tapping doesn’t work.
Another thing, I went into the keyboard set up to try to setup my Dell AccessDirect Key, but when I go into keyboard setup there is no Dell AcccessDirect Key.
What should I do? Could it be that Windows XP is not recognizing the correct keyboard or track stick? Should I try to reinstall a driver for the keyboard, if so , how?
I recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP on my E1705 Dell laptop due to a virus. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the Wi-Fi and Video, which are now working, but the driver I downloaded for the Audio does not work. When I attempt to install it it just says that the requested devide is not found. How can I get the sound working again on my E1705?
When i turn my Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop on i get this error message. Internal hard disk drive not found. To resolve this issue try reseat the drive. No bootable devices-strike f1 to retry reboot f2 for set up f5 for onboard disgnostics. I need to know how to reseat my hard drive

I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 notebook with a dead mobo. Instead of being bummed about it, I’m looking at it as an opportunity to make a cheap-ish mod. I was wondering if I can use any mobo to hook the lcd up to, maybe making my own notebook case to hold the guts. I’m not looking to make it into a gaming computer, just a basic linux based machine to serve my needs. I think it would be cool to mod it into something unique.
I own a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop, and supposedly I should be able to do wireless internet on it. However, for some reason I can never get a connection. The WiFi light in glowing but still can’t get it to work. Do I have to buy a wireless router card/device to plug into the side of my laptop. Or am I right in believing that my laptop should already have all the necessary hardware to do wireless internet. Also, do I need to subscribe to any network to get a connection. I currently subscribe to a Tiscasi dial-up service. I also don’t really understand the profiles either. On this screen is normally shows around three profiles/network names including MVB and Belkin54g. Who are these profiles and do I need to subscribe to them.
Any advise would be appreciated.
I plan to wipe the laptop and install Linux and Vista without all the dell software, so would dell hardware do well for light gaming, 3D graphics and word processing?
I mean, is there an advantage getting a Sony Vaio or a Toshiba over a Dell? From what i see they’re including the same processors and graphic cards, and the RAM shouldn’t really matter, right? Is there any clear reason why I should put a couple extra hundred dollars into a same speced laptop other than fashion?
Its painfully slow and I cant even use it with the 512 mb that it came with. I contacted dell and they told me I need to order a part to upgrade the memory. I don’t have a ton of money to be wasting on memory that should’ve come with the computer in the first place. What is the best and cheapest way to get more memory? Im clueless and will appreciate any advice or help…
I have done it before when I talked to a person from Dell over the phone. He told me to do it. I had to push a certain button lots of times when the Dell symbol came up when I booted up the computer. I dont think it is any of the F- buttons.
I found the answer! You have to press Ctrl-F11 while the Dell symbol comes up when you reboot. Thanks
I have a Dell Lattitude Laptop that automatically seeks out wireless signals. I am picking up the wireless signal at work but it’s very weak. I know they make USB Antenna’s for laptops but I don’t have any idea what the best kind would be.
The wireless router is on the 3rd floor and I’m on the first. What do I need to plug into my laptop to pick up a better signal?
Thanks.
I’m gonna buy a new notebook PC for myself pretty soon. I asked some of my friends what brand of notebook shall I choose. Almost 90% of them(they all have notebooks themselves) said that Dell probably is the best. I did a research on all the PC brands through all the ads this weekend and I also found some good deals about hp and Toshiba.
I’m really confused right now. I’m just buying a PC for regular usage, and it seems all the people around me said that Dell is the best. What do you think? What are some of the reasons for choosing Dell?
Thank you for answering.
The hard drive in my Dell inspiron 1000 went bad. I can put the replacement hard drive in but do I need to do anything else besides just running the restore disk? It had windows xp. I would like to get a bigger drive but it is not required. Is there anything I need to do or know before I get the replacement hard drive or to install the OS?
I have a 7 PIN S-VIDEO with the red white and yellow hook-up for the back of my television. I have looked at numerous sites. Some say to hit “Fn” and then “F8″. I have tried this on some of my friends’ Dell computers and it works. Then when i go to settings in my Display menu, it’s not showing the tv as a secondary source, even though it’s hooked-up to the tv. I have no idea what to do next.
The Dell Inspiron E1505 has the speakers and media control buttons in the front so one can continue to play music with the screen closed. I read somewhere that I have to make it so it wont sleep when I close it. How can I do this? I cant find anything in the owners manual, of course I probably havent looked hard enough…:) Thanks!
I am buying a new hard drive this week as the old one crashed. Besides a fresh install of Windows XP Home, I am also downloading the drivers that go with the machine (from Dell Support’s website). I have also come across things like the BIOS, Intel Mobile Chipset, Diagnostic Utility, and some other stuff. What all do I need and is there any particular order in which I need to install the files?
I know the difference. The vostro is the business computer and the XPS is the gaming computer.
My question is, If i built both an XPS and a Vostro with the same equipment what would be the difference(other than casing and looks)?
Would dell you different parts or anything like that? The vostro would be about $300 cheaper.
My wife’s Dell laptop started having problems. So I removed the hard drive and purchase a SATA kit to connect it to my laptop to back up her important files before doing a full system restore. I have it all hooked up but when I goto the drive on My Computer it tells me that Access Denied. How do I get access to the drive and get my files?
Hi my partner and i have recently purchased a sony bravia 32 inch tv and i’m looking to connect my dell inspiron laptop 9100 up to it and use it as a monitor, but i’m wondering what cable would i need?? I’m not very pc or tv savvy and any help would be appreciated.
I know the tv has a vga connection as does my laptop, if that helps.
I have had my laptop for two years with no problems but lately either the LED will go crazy and I’ll be forced to manually turn it off or when I turn it off voluntarily, it will not reboot. The A indicator flashes and then the computer turns back off. Someone at dell told me I needed to replace the memory but will that fix my problem? How long is memory supposed to last? Is there something I can do to prolong the end of my memories life until I recieve the new memory in the mail?
my dell power connector in the back broke. thats all is wrong with it and the pc hasnt been used no longer then 30 hrs. i was hoping to find a b130 laptop that needed a screed replaced or some other internal parts and build me one. the power connector are hard to fix and even if you get someone to fix it, it will never hold…any suggestions?
It is a Dell Inspiron E1505. it has the multimedia buttons on the front. All of the video buttons, play, stop, rewind and fast forward work. When i go to mute, raise or lower the volume with the other buttons, it does not work. the graphic that pops up to show the volume level appears, but it too does not change. any help?
I have an xps that is running xp, and i have recorded programs on my laptop with the media center and all the hardware dell gave me. However i wanted to record old vhs tapes to my laptop. Is there any possible way to do that with what i have or do i need something else. If it is possible how do i hook that up(i haven’t recorded anything in the last couple of months and forgot how)
I had a Dell laptop before and the battery died after 13 months. So I had to buy a new battery.
Now, I have a new laptop (Dell Inspiron 1720) and I would like to remove the battery and use power at home. This way, my unused battery would last longer and I would use it only when I travel.
If I remove the battery, there will be a hole at the bottom of the laptop, there is no risk that dust penetrate and damage something on the long run?
This is where we see that money is more important for computer manfacturers than the benefit of consumers. Manufacturers should sell a special cover to put when one remove the battery. This way, the battery can be stored and last longer, and also the laptop will be lighter. Great for the customer but bad for the manufacturer because we won’t buy a new battery after 2 years. I think it’s a scandal and it’s strange that consumers don’t react on that subject.
After starting the laptop, Dell Inspiron 600m, there is a part of the screen exactly to the right of the “Dell” logo on the bottom part of the monitor that becomes very very hot, can’t even touch it for too long because it’s so hot. It happens after about 10 minutes of turning it on. The laptop runs only on AC adapter because it stopped working with the battery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I received the Dell Inspiron 1000 like 3 years ago as a gift from a pawn shop. So much for warranty! It went dead completely a few months ago after numerous time of replacing the a/c adapter for power failure. So far I’ve managed to remove the disk drive from it and heard I could use something called a Usb Enclosure to transfer what’s on it to my new laptop. Any ideas?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop with 256MBs of an nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphic card. I would want to upgrade it to around 512MBs, but I’ve searched all over the web and i can not find a site that sells graphic cards for laptops. If anyone knows where i can find an upgrade for my video card, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
When I go onto the dell website and try to customize and order the Dell Inspiron 1520 it says that it is no longer available and the alternative is the 1525 although the 1525 does not have some of the specs I want that are in the 1520. Does this mean that the 1520 is just discontinued or can I buy one somewhere or customize it or anything? Help would be greatly appreciated here. Thanks.
I was about to buy a Dell Studio computer at staples and the sales person advised me against it. He said that they have had 7 Dell notebook PC’s returned in the last 40 days and that none of them will boot. He also said that Dell will not take them back. Then he recommended an Acer instead.
He doesn’t work on commission. Are the newer Dell’s problematic?
Okay I know that my battery is really bad on my Dell and I always have to keep it plugged in so I can use it but I try turning it on and it won’t. Does anybody know what’s going on?
Okay I know that my battery is really bad on my Dell and I always have to keep it plugged in so I can use it but I try turning it on and it won’t. Does anybody know what’s going on? The charger is plugged in properly and I double checked it. Does anybody know what to do to fix it?
I’m beginning to get paranoid, i ordered a dell inspiron 1525 on May 15th, and haven’t gotten it yet. My shipment dates had been getting pushed further and further, and i’m beginning to think it’s never going to be delivered. Has anyone ordered anything from Dell and have not gotten their order yet? What should i do?
It’s a Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop with the media control buttons on the front panel. Every time I press any of those buttons, it does weird things, like scroll the page or select an icon or type in random numbers in the search bar. It still controls the volume properly, but also does these stuff on the side. This happened just recently. I haven’t installed any new software or added any changes to my computer. Suggestions on how to fix this??
I have a Dell Laptop I am wanting to sell on ebay. However one of the pins where the power adapter plugs in is broken off and it will not charge up to start the laptop. I am trying to find out the specs on the laptop. On the top cover it says Dell Latitude CPt. On the bottom It says Model No: PPX
How can I find out what the spces are and how can I get it to charge with the broken pin where the adapter goes?
Thanks for your help!
I have heard Dell offers deals up to 50% off and I saw coupons for up to $500 off before I was really looking to buy anything. My funds are limited but I need a high end laptop for my family. Does anyone know what time of year Dell offers their best deals? Do most coupon sites carry the same Dell coupons?
On (Saturday) January 27, 2007 I ordered myself a Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook (laptop) with some upgrades on www.dell.com. I was wondering how long it usually takes for them to build it, ship it and approximatly when will it be here? I am waaay to anxious… Just curious, thank you!
It does say estimated ship date 2/7/07 & estimated delivery date 2/8/07.. but i was just wondering if you can get it earlier than that?!
I just got the Dell Inspiration 1525 lap top. It came with a program named Roxio. I paid $100 dollars for the CD burner and I cant figure out how to burn anything! And is there a way to get past the copyright protection?
I said CD but I MEANT DVD!!!!
WHEN I DID TRY TO BURN A DVD IT SAID IT COULDNT DO IT BECAUSE THE DVD WAS COPYRIGHT.
Right now there is a 30% off 1699 or more for dell XPS notebooks. This is valid through Dec 10th.
Do you think a higher coupon will be available closer to christmas? Or should I buy now?
Thanks!
I am not looking for opinions about dells…I have had one for over 3 years and love it, just want it upgrade.
My ONLY question is about coupons, don’t waste your time.
I have a wireless card I was using with one of my laptops but that one crashed so I put this wireless card into my other laptop but its not recognizing it. Both laptops are dell and so is the wireless card. The laptop that crashed is an Inspiron and the other one is a Latitude. Are you not able to use dells wireless cards with all dell laptops?
I have an old Dell Latitude that constantly drops the signal and freezes up my computer when I use my Dell Truemobile 1300 PC Wireless Card. The card is in my PCMCIA slot; if i take it out and put it back in again it works for a few minutes, and then freezes up again. Is there any way i can fix this? Would changing the BIOS work? If so, how do I do it?
I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a Celeron M 1.5 GHz processor and 504 MB Ram. I use an architecture program for school (Rhinoceros), and my computer cant handle me working in 3D. However, my BFs computer does work in 3D, and he has LESS Ram then me but a BETTER processor. Is it possible to upgrade my processor to make this program work or is there an easier solution?
I LOVE Linux and I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron on my Dell Inspiron 1420 (came with Windows Vista Home Premium). The Dell Ubuntu version has some extra tweaks, and I was wondering if I would get those if I reinstalled Ubuntu with a Dell Inspiron 1420n Ubuntu Reinstall DIsc. Is this possible?
I recently purchased a used Dell Inspiron 9100. The headphone jack didn’t work. The speakers work fine. I bought a replacement headphone jack from ebay and installed it. Now, the headphones work but the speakers don’t.
Whether I have headphones installed or not, the speakers don’t work. I’ve checked the audio menu and nothing is muted.
I’m used to macs, but I needed a cheap windows computer to do some taxes. I purchased a used Dell C600 laptop, and when booted it just says “No bootable device, try again y/n?” There is a space/hole on the left side of the laptop where it looks like some sort of device should be inserted. Was it sent without a hard drive or something? What do I need to buy to get it to work?
I just ordered a new Dell Inspiron laptop today. I customized some aspects of it, plus am ordering it in a colour, so I realized it might take awhile to arrive. However, the estimated arrival date is October 5th!
Is this typical for Dell? Do you think that they could be over-estimating the delivery date? I was hoping it would come before the start of school, but now I’m worried!
It seems to have good specs and I am not a techi and I want to buy one for my regular research, email, music and sometimes DVD playing purposes. I don’t play games so I don’t care about that. Right now I have a Dell Latitude C 600 which I really liked but I need an upgrade now. Please guide me if Inspiron 1501 would be a good option.
I want to get an antenna to extend my wireless reception. There are wireless networks in the area that my laptop recognizes, but the signal is not strong enough. In researching antennas, I noticed that they say you need an external antenna jack. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop. I bought it in 2004 approximately. Does anyone know if this would have an external antenna jack or what that would look like? Thanks!
i am thinking of getting a dell studio 15. it is going to be a gaming laptop. now dont tell me to just “get a desktop” because i dont want one. i just need to know if it can play some good games. like the most high powered demanding one that i can think of would be crysis. can it play that? what other games?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop that I am selling and I would like to reformat it to its factory settings before I ship it. It did not come with a disk to reformat it though. I would like to clean the hard-drive before I mail it. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. Thanks…
I have had my Dell Inspiron 1720 for a little over a year now. The graphics card that I bought with it was the 8600m gt, but after playing several games, I’ve decided that I need something more powerful. What laptop video card do you recommend and is it possible to install the card in the laptop since I bought it from dell?
I have a Dell Inspiron that needs a new battery, only I have no idea where to get one (there’s no dell shop near me) or how much it should cost.
Also, do they differ in battery life? I.E, my current one used to last four hours, but is there any way I can buy one that lasts longer or is that more to do with the make?
